Versa Networks partnership expands Riverbed SD-WAN offerings

Riverbed and Versa Networks teamed up on an OEM agreement that enables Riverbed to use Versa's enterprise-class secure SD-WAN technology.

Riverbed and Versa Networks have announced a global OEM agreement, which includes an expanded portfolio of Riverbed SD-WAN offerings.

According to Riverbed, the agreement will combine Riverbed's global support and services and market experience in digital performance with Versa Networks' enterprise-class secure software-defined WAN technology.

Along with the expanded portfolio from Riverbed, the company will also include a new enterprise offering alongside Riverbed SteelConnect, using Versa Networks' Secure Cloud IP software platform. The Secure Cloud IP software provides native security in the core of the networking platform.

The new SD-WAN offering will provide high scalability, a full stack of enterprise and carrier-grade routing, and advanced network security capabilities, according to Riverbed. This, Riverbed claims, will provide a line of offerings that meets the needs of all organizations from midmarket to the world's largest enterprises.

Riverbed SteelConnect includes integration with SteelCentral for visibility, insight and integration with Riverbed SteelHead SD. SteelConnect has automated one-click connectivity for AWS and Microsoft Azure to provide agility, performance and security, according to Riverbed. Riverbed will continue to offer SteelConnect and will use Versa Networks' technology for larger-scale enterprise deployments.

Riverbed SD-WAN offerings that use Versa Networks' Secure Cloud IP software will be available later this year.
