Versa Networks integrates SD-WAN service with Azure Virtual WAN

In networking news, Versa Networks partners with Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN; CenturyLink launches the Managed Cisco SD-WAN service; and Aryaka expands cloud offerings with Oracle.

Versa Networks has integrated its software-defined WAN service with Microsoft's Azure Virtual WAN. The integration looks to simplify and automate branch-office and cloud connectivity for organizations with workloads in Microsoft Azure.

The partnership looks to deliver automated, software-defined orchestration of secure connectivity from the branch to cloud-based Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN. By using Versa Secure SD-WAN from the Versa Secure Cloud IP platform as an on-premises branch service, users can access their cloud-based business applications in Microsoft Azure. Essentially, the integrated service between Versa and Microsoft tries to bring cloud workloads closer to users.

With the partnered products, security controls are managed from a unified portal and API integration. The integration provides branch-to-branch and branch-to-Azure connectivity, with SD-WAN application traffic steering across the Microsoft backbone.

Azure Virtual WAN aims to simplify the deployment of secure and global branch connectivity across the Microsoft network. Azure Virtual WAN can also provide fast-path routing between on-premises, virtual appliances and Azure-hosted workloads with connections through automated IPsec tunnels.

Other vendors, such as VMware and Riverbed, have also integrated SD-WAN services with Azure Virtual WAN.

CenturyLink rolls out Managed Cisco SD-WAN services

CenturyLink is expanding its SD-WAN services with Managed Cisco SD-WAN, which features technology underpinned by Viptela. The new offering provides customers with tools and technology to migrate and manage their SD-WAN services, as well as the ability to design, deploy and configure them.

CenturyLink will support the service across Cisco's Viptela vEdge series routers and Enterprise Network Compute System 5000 series virtualized network platform. Multiple feature packages are available, and customers will have access to a dedicated CenturyLink SD-WAN portal.

CenturyLink Managed Cisco SD-WAN uses the benefits of private networking, such as MPLS, as well as public networking to include internet access, broadband and wireless connectivity.

For Cisco hardware users, Managed Cisco SD-WAN should simplify integration with their existing network infrastructure. According to a recent Gartner report, Cisco owns approximately 60% of the traditional enterprise router market worldwide, based on second-quarter 2018 market share revenue.

CenturyLink and Cisco have also collaborated on other network services, particularly CenturyLink Managed Enterprise with Cisco Meraki. CenturyLink also launched SD-WAN services with Versa Networks in 2016.

Aryaka expands cloud services with Oracle

SD-WAN provider Aryaka Networks Inc. announced this week it will offer private access to the Oracle Cloud through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect.

With Aryaka's SD-WAN as a service and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect, enterprises can access their applications in the Oracle Cloud through private connections facilitated by Aryaka. The SD-WAN multi-cloud service from Aryaka allows customers to connect directly to and between private, public and hybrid cloud resources, which include IaaS and PaaS.

Through the network collaboration with Aryaka, Oracle customers can access their cloud data and applications globally. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect allows organizations to connect to Oracle Cloud from enterprise data centers.
