DTE (Data Terminal Equipment)

In computer data transmission, DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) is the RS-232C interface that a computer uses to exchange data with a modem or other serial device. For further information about the DTE interface and its relationship to the Data Communication Equipment (DCE) interface, see RS-232C.
