What Cisco Certified Network Professional certificate in government?

How important is the certification to get if you have the skills. I know a friend who been in networking for a long time (20+ years) but never got the certifications. Will he have trouble finding a future job if it comes down to having to look ?

The CCNP is highly recommended if you are looking to start your IT networking career off properly. I have seen many corporate positions that absolutely require this cert to touch anything related to their networks. If you have a lot of previous experience in networking this will definitely make studying for the exam that much easier.
