CompTIA helping wounded veterans gain IT certs

CompTIA, through its Creating IT Futures Foundation, is working with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to help U.S. military veterans transition into IT careers.

Last summer, CompTIA promised to deliver 5,000 vouchers (valued at $400,000) to WWP, which in turn is offering career transition training courses to wounded U.S. service members at eight health care facilities and military bases across the country.

In 2011, 550 veterans sat for CompTIA exams through WWP with a 93% pass rate. They achieved certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+. The partnership between WWP and CompTIA will continue through 2014.

Many of these newly certified veterans will go on to new careers in the private sector while others will take on new IT roles within the military
