Will North America adopt 900MHz or 1800MHz bands

Hi Ramesh, I currently own a Nokia 8910 Black version, which operates on the GSM 900/1800MHz bands. I was notified that it would not work in North America because they only operate on the 1900MHz band. I am wondering if in the near future - North America will adopt either the 900MHz or the 1800MHz bands so that I could use the phone. Thanks.
I understand that in the near future - North America will see some changes GSM operations - unfortunately, I'm not sure when.

But if you are looking for solution, there are some good cell phones that can operate in tri-band. For example, I use the Sony Ericsson T68i model (1900/1800/900MHz) when I travel to Europe and Asia. If you are looking at Nokia - the Nokia630i model should work nicely for you.
