What is "Orinoco"?

In wireless technology, what is "Orinoco"? Is it a brand name, a protocol, or a type of wireless product? What is the correct pronunciation, and where is the accent placed?
According to InfoPlease.com, Orinoco is pronounced "OrEnO'kO". It is the name of a river in Venezuela. A few years ago, Agere adopted ORiNOCO as the brand name for its line of wireless LAN products - products that are now sold by Proxim.
