Ratio of support technicians per workstation

Chris,
Do you know what the industry standard is for the ratio of support technicians per workstation? Do you know where I can find any related documentation?Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Jovan

Dear Jovan,
To the best of my knowledge, there is no such ratio which can be applied across all businesses simply because each business has different needs and has its unique network infrastructure that will play a major role on the number of technicians required to support the available workstations.

Here are a few documents I managed to find that give good examples of what the ratio should be in certain situations:

  1. http://www.classroomtco.org/checklist/support.html
  2. http://www.co.arlington.va.us/dmf/fy04proposed/section_c/dts/help_desk.htm
  3. http://www.clearcube.com/whitepapers/downloads/CC-IDCReducingDesktopMngtCosts9-4.pdf

Do you have more questions about networking, VPN security or VoIP? Then visit Firewall.cx, one of the few websites recommended by Cisco Systems in its world class Cisco Academy program.
