Do you know why the "e" icon for Microsoft Internet Explorer turns black? I tried using the Refresh, clean out the cache, I have written to Microsoft but they have ignored my question. I have also written to the help desk.
With all the experts working there surely someone must know and can tell me why the "e" icon has turn black and how to correct the problem.
Well, it sounds like there is a problem with Icon Cache. If I remember correctly is seems like that in Windows 9X there was a file called shelliconcache that you can delete that will cure that problem. In Windows 2K and above you will need to make a registry setting change. Here is a link that outlines the details. http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=56 Be careful when making changes to the registry.
