Is testing IPv6 more difficult than testing IPv4?

Testing IPv6 is an area that is very tricky when compared to testing IPv4. Testing IPv6 is definitely not the same as testing IPv4. It's important to understand how to test IPv6 both from a functional perspective and also from performance and scalability perspectives. You have a fine twist here because it's not just about testing IPv6 and comparing it with IPv4, which is our immediate tendency. It's more about testing IPv6 against more absolute expectations, such as overall performance and security effectiveness.

What's interesting, and what makes IPv6 testing increasingly difficult, is that it's very important and inevitable that you will need to test things in a coexistence scenario. The reason is that, ultimately, you have to run a business, and you need to have certain levels of expectations when it comes to the impact of rolling out IPv6 into your existing environment. During testing it's also important to be mindful of conserving resources.
