How to lock wireless routers

Learn how to limit connections to your WLAN and control access to your router, in this advice from our enterprise security expert, Michael Gregg.

How can I lock my WLAN routers so that others cannot connect to them?
Depending on the type of router you have you can block direct Secure Shell ( SSH) and telnet connection to the routers. If you want to, you can restrict access so changes to the management interface must be made by physical connection. If you are using Cisco products, this Hardening Cisco IOS devices guide should help in proper configuration.
