How many different kinds of LAN cards are there?
The IT market today has so many different LAN (network) cards available it would be impossible to cover them all. However, they are categorized depending on the type of LAN technologies they support.
A few examples are Ethernet/Fast Ethernet networks cards, Token ring and FDDI network cards.
The main differences between these various cards are the interfaces they use to connect to their network, the electrical properties each card can handle and the software required to drive them.
Out of all, the most popular network cards used are those supporting Fast Ethernet. The demand for these cards is so high that vendors produce them in millions, therefore making the available at low prices.
