Content provider networks have extremely large data centers but fewer of them. Content provider data centers are in remote locations for inexpensive real estate and lower power costs. Content provider networks have longer routes, spanning an average of 2,500 kilometers. Content networks are 100% IP and therefore do not require optical transport network (OTN) or MPLS-Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) technology.
