How can I download critical updates (Windows 2000) from the Internet to the company's intranet without internet connectivity due to security classification issues? What are some of the freeware for patch management that are available that I can use for my company's network?
Looks like you have a problem between usability and security. You are going to need a system somewhere that has access to the Internet to download updates and patches. From there you can pull them into your secure network by CD or whatever method you deem appropriate.

Probably the first package that comes to mind is Microsoft's SUS (Software Update Service) it is designed to keep Windows-based systems up-to-date with the latest critical updates. Here is a link to some other update packages. Some are free while others are not.

If you company values security you may have to end up and recommend the purchase of patch management software.
Stay secure,
Michael
