Networking White Papers:

Benchmarking mainframe Linux vs. distributed systems

Date Published:
10 SEP 2002
About the White Paper:
With Linux on S/390 and zSeries becoming a viable option, it's tempting to move workloads from Unix platforms to the mainframe where centralized management and scalability promise important cost benefits. There's a general consensus that Linux on an IBM mainframe can lower the total cost of computing; few actual case studies provide solid proof. CA used a real-world production environment and defined a clear methodology for cross-platform benchmarking. Our results show that Linux on S/390 is a competitive solution. (Sept. 10, 2002)
