About the White Paper:
Austin Radiological Association (ARA), one of the nation's largest health care organizations, is sharpening its focus on filmless imaging to improve service for central Texas physicians and patients. In 2001, ARA converted from film-based technology to a digital, web-based imaging system, boosting productivity and lowering operational costs. A secure web portal was established to give ARA's referring medical community immediate access to patient studies enabling informed, real-time decisions.
While this shift significantly reduced film, storage and delivery expenses, it raised networking requirements substantially and to execute ARA's all-digital strategy, maintaining optimum network performance is critical. This study details how LightePointe's optical wireless deployment helped ARA economically extend their operation and better leverage data traffic between nearby clinics, hospitals, and health care providers, all while ensuring the transport of medical images to physician desktops in under three seconds.
