Some more ideas on Scripting FTP
There is always more than one way to skin a cat, as they say...Here's a versatile little ftp script.
#!/bin/ksh -x
# set up variables
LCD="/tmp" # local directory, to put patch
LOGIN="anonymous"
PASS="tmando@iname.com"
DIR=/hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X
PATCH="PHSS_number"
rm /tmp/batchftp.err
rm /tmp/batchftp.log
cd $LCD
/usr/bin/ftp -v -n >> /tmp/batchftp.log 2>> /tmp/batchftp.err <
open ftp.itrc.hp.com
user $LOGIN $PASS
binary
cd $DIR
get $PATCH
quit
