Hide your network servers from discovery by Network Neighborhood or your browser.


This prevents hackers from discovering your critical servers from the outside.


This is a Registry Edit and is final, so use careful consideration.


Open regedt32.


Then complete the following:


Open Registry Key:


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLanmanServerParameters


Add Value Name: Hidden
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 1 (1=enable, 0=disable)
