Connecting Ethernet across old cabling

Cisco recently unveiled a new product within their Catalyst 2900 family, which allows Ethernet connections (5 to 15 Mb) across older cabling at distances that rival fiber standards. The products are marketed towards networks that are adding Ethernet to locations that have voice grade connections. The cabling allows the voice and data to run concurrently across the existing wiring. It is very much like a DSLAM, but the pricing is down to a reasonable price, assuming about $2800 for the Cat2900 and about $250 per intergrated data-voice connection. At that price, the last remaing buildings in some of my locations are finally able to get connected without dropping thousands on cabling and trenching for new copper or fiber.
