Joel Snyder, senior partner with consultancy Opus One and technical editor of Information Security magazine, presented this session at Information Security Decisions Fall 2005.

Remote access VPNs are undergoing a revolution with the introduction of enterprise-ready SSL VPN devices. While traditional IPsec is widely deployed, new SSL-based VPN remote access systems are maturing and being pitched not only to supplement IPsec VPN, but in some cases to supplant IPsec VPN. And in many ways, SSL VPN products are becoming the aggregation of all the things needed to fix IPsec remote access, such as broad multiplatform support, simplified administration, easy intranet deployment and fine grained access control. Enterprises with fully installed IPsec remote access VPNs may find that SSL VPNs offer an opportunity -- or they may not.

Joel Snyder straightens out all the confusion in this presentation as he delivers the inside scoop on how to solve remote access problems. You discover:

    ((Content component not found.))
  • What an SSL VPN is and how it compares to existing IPsec-based remote access solutions
  • Where SSL VPN vendors are taking their products, and how the hot buzzword means that everything is now an SSL VPN
  • How each technology excels
  • The steps you need to take to evaluate whether or not you should be using SSL VPNs as part of your remote access solution.
