Symbol introduces switched-wireless architecture

Symbol Technologies Inc., Holtsville, N.Y., announced the Mobius Wireless System, a switched-wireless networking architecture that aims to reduce deployment, management and technology upgrade costs associated with enterprise wireless networks. The product is designed to deliver advanced wireless networking services and application-specific security to IEEE 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g and legacy Symbol Spectrum24 wireless networks and mobile systems. The system integrates into the wired network core and delivers wireless services and connectivity to the network edge using the Mobius Axon Wireless Switch and Mobius Axon Access Ports. The Mobius Wireless System is on display supporting 1,000 wireless users in public hot spots this week at NetWorld+Interop and Comdex Atlanta 2002. Symbol Technologies
