Meru Networks Inc. takes home this year's Bronze Award in WLAN equipment and applications for its Wireless LAN Solution. The package features three major components: the Meru Access Point, the Meru Controller, and the Meru System Director. Meru's Air Traffic Control technology is used to create an enterprise WLAN infrastructure that delivers the service reliability, scalability, and ease of use that are essential for wireless deployments in enterprises hoping to support wireless VoIP.

Designed within the framework of prevalent 802.11 standards, Air Traffic Control technology creates a cellular network for Wi-Fi products by coordinating access points and transforming a data connectivity technology (Wi-Fi) into a full communications network capable of carrying toll-quality VoIP and data applications.

Our panel was most impressed by the functionality of this package. The Meru product includes E(z)RF, which simplify installation and management. The system automatically discovers and configures access points, automatically assigns channels and dynamically adjusts power, coordinates RF monitoring, and continually fine-tunes performance of the WLAN based on the RF environment to optimize coverage, performance and availability.
