Rounding out the network monitoring category and earning the bronze award is the OmniPeek family from WildPackets. The product family comprises OmniPeek network analyzers, consoles and distributed OmniEngines, which analyze data at remote locations on the network. It also consolidates the former EtherPeek LAN analysis and AiroPeek wireless LAN analysis tools into the multipurpose OmniPeek product.

The enterprise version supports data collection from any network topology, including 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet networks, WAN links and local matrix switches. OmniPeek employs an intuitive user interface and "top-down" approach to visualizing network conditions, allowing networking professionals to analyze faults from multiple network segments, drill down through multiple layers of analysis, and pinpoint problems with relative ease.

OmniPeek excelled at identifying network problems, according to survey respondents; 52% rated it excellent in that regard. It also had a strong showing when it came to logging, monitoring and reporting. One user commented that the tool provides "nice output of data on a real-time basis."
