BRONZE AWARD: Trend Micro Network VirusWall Enforcer
The Network VirusWall Enforcer from Trend Micro snagged our Product Leadership 2008 bronze award for network access control (NAC), with nearly 77% of survey respondents rating it good or excellent for its ability to detect, block and clean up malware and exploits. Ninety percent rated its frequency and speed of signature updates good or excellent.
Trend Micro says its product is an agentless NAC appliance that can extend to remote and mobile employees without excessive administrative costs. It is available in two versions that are both aimed at midmarket organizations: the 1200 and 2500, both 1U rack-mounted devices. The 1200 supports a maximum of 256 users; the 2500 supports up to 4,096 users.
Trend Micro claims its Network VirusWall Enforcer performs remote port scans to check any device that connects to the network. It can also perform a temporary dynamic scan with a temporary agent installed through a Web browser to collect more details on the security profile of a device.
"Trend Micro Network VirusWall Enforcer is one of the best choices for blocking and cleaning up malware, configuring and administering the product," one reader wrote. "It's worthy of your investment."
