Scoring highest in its ability to block intrusions, attacks and unauthorized network traffic, Symantec's Symantec Enterprise Firewall earned the Product Leadership silver award for network firewalls.

Survey respondents also rated Symantec well with regard to application-layer/protocol/HTTP controls, with 85% scoring it as good or excellent. Three-quarters of respondents also said that integration with other defense tools, central management and ease of installation were good or excellent.

Though Symantec's rankings were not as high in vendor service and support, one user said his company's technical security support group believes Symantec offers the best enterprise firewall. Another supportive user added, "This is one of the best products in the market for enterprise firewall. I just hope they can still cut down on its price."
