Our Bronze Award goes to another product meant to ease the pain of managers of large networks. DeviceAuthority Suite 3.0 from AlterPoint Inc. provides configuration and change management for devices in multi-vendor network infrastructures. The product goes beyond simple device mapping to automate the assessment, management and auditing of configurations while enabling internal policies and industry compliance measures.
DeviceAuthority includes support for over 1000 network devices across 10 device classes and 25 vendors. This includes backing up configurations on devices, promoting configurations on devices and making changes to devices. The software's device adapters contain all of the vendor-specific rules for interacting with different devices, and can be updated to make changes or add support for new devices.
Judges were impressed by DeviceAuthority's high-performance engine, which enables management of over 5000 changes per hour on over 100,000 devices. The product architecture allows change detection and reporting to occur in real time, no matter how large the managed infrastructure grows. In addition, judges felt that pricing was an advantage, with an entry point of $5,000 for 50 devices.
