Faster secure data transmission
Schlumberger, a Houston technology services company, released a new secure private network product this week. According to the company, the Dexa.net virtual private network uses multi-protocol label switching to ensure faster, secure delivery of information by tagging different types of data such as email or video for appropriate handing.

Manage networks off-site
Cyclades Corp., San Francisco, released its AlterPath ACS server which enables remote wireless access to company networks. The data center management company said its server allows network managers to access and manage their networks wirelessly via laptop, personal digital assistant and even cell phone both on and off site.
Software available for managing Cisco routers
Singlestep Technologies, a network integration software company in Seattle, released an application designed to allow network managers to more efficiently manage network devices. The company said the product allows mangers to monitor network traffic, change settings and set the status and speed of one or more Ethernet interfaces.

Sockeye Networks, Waltham, Mass., and InvisibleHand Networks, Burlington, Mass, have teamed up to enable customers to purchase Internet Protocol bandwidth on demand at competitive rates. The two companies said they have linked Sockeye's products that manage network traffic based on cost and performance with InvivisbleHand's software platform that allows real time pricing and bandwidth allocation.
