As the world moves into a brand new year, technology makes its own move. The impact of this technology will be seen in our daily lives, too. Here are some of them:

Increased focus on security: Security will be a main focus for every organization doing business online. Large businesses will require their partners to comply with their security standards. No more will those PINs and passwords be trusted. Smart chips, secure ID's and retinal identification will find increased acceptance worldwide.

Increased security budgets: Companies will be spending 10-15% more on security infrastructure, as the focus moves toward a highly secure model. Security policies and security audits will become a key IT strategy and a mandatory function. Outsourcing security will receive increased acceptance. Internet security consulting companies and professionals will find themselves in great demand.

Cyber attacks: E-mail borne viruses/Trojan Horse programs will become more dangerous and damaging. Countries with weak encryption standards and laws will be the target of cyber attacks. Intrusion detection will be the hot topic and we will see some killer tools arriving in 2002.
