National Semiconductor, SwitchCore enable Gigabit switch applications
SwitchCore AB and National Semiconductor have announced a non-exclusive partnership that is focused on providing end-to-end solutions for the rapidly growing Gigabit switch market. The companies will assist Gigabit Ethernet switches in accelerating the migration from 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet over the installed base of Category 5 cables.
Kyberpass announces wireless security strategy
Kyberpass Corp. has announced its strategy for the wireless security market. The lead prototype in the company's wireless security suite, Kyberpass K2 for the Palm OS, will enable Palm OS applications to operate securely over standard TCP/IP networks using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology.
Cisco's Ethernet technology powers New World Telephone's next-generation network
Cisco Systems Inc. has signed a multi-million dollar contract with New World Telephone Ltd., a Hong Kong-based broadband carrier and telecommunications service provider, to supply next generation broadband network products to Hong Kong. New World Telephone's network will be based on Cisco's Long-Reach Ethernet (LRE) technology and IP+Optical networking products. With this contract, New World Telephone becomes the first Asian telecommunications company to begin commercial deployment of Cisco Systems' LRE technology via a core Dynamic Packet Transport (DPT) optical backbone.
Agere Systems announces price reduction for Orinoco wireless networking
Agere Systems, formerly known as the Microelectronics Group of Lucent Technologies Inc., has lowered the price for the ORiNOCO Access Server 2000 (AS-2000), a high-security wireless networking system for enterprises, educational institutions, government organizations and service providers. The AS-2000 is now available at a manufacturer's suggested list price of $1,495, a $500 reduction from its previous price.
