Certain virtualization companies would have you believe their software alone is enough to closely monitor and manage virtual environments for the private cloud. But enterprises are finding that they need even tighter visibility and management of virtual resources, so they're turning to third-party cloud management apps.

Quest Software's Cloud Automation Platform is one of those apps. Recognized as a Best of Interop 2011 finalist, the Quest application provides a graphical view of virtual infrastructure, enabling administrators to manage capacity and services through a single dashboard—which means self service VM migration and cloud provisioning based upon in-depth reporting.
