Wireless networking vendors are further integrating wired and wireless networks because enterprises are realizing it's both easier to manage and easier on the budget.
Aaron Vance, senior analyst at Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Synergy Research Group Inc., calls integration of wired and wireless onto a single platform an "IT nirvana" in terms of its wireless management and control.
He offers this advice for successful wired-wireless network integration:
Look at what is presently set up and already deployed on the network before deploying any type of integrated approach. Develop a clear evolution path to ensure that legacy and future products integrate seamlessly. Avoid upgrades if at all possible. Offerings that streamline the integration progress are the best fit.
