Find the right cloud network strategy for your enterprise

Cloud computing adoption is no longer a question of "if," nor even a question of "when." Most enterprises today are using some form of the cloud -- in either a public, private or hybrid model -- to host their applications, servers, storage or other infrastructure. The real question facing networking professionals is whether they have the right network strategy to support this radical shift in IT service delivery.

In the simplest cloud deployments, such as outsourcing one or two applications to a software-as-a-service provider, all you may need is a little more Internet bandwidth. But enterprises with more complex needs, such as spreading out workloads in a hybrid cloud architecture, need to think more strategically about what their networks need to support the cloud. In this issue of "Network Evolution," discover what it means to build a cloud networking strategy and learn from several IT departments that have already done so.

Also in this issue, learn about the emergence of software-defined networking (SDN) starter kits -- prepackaged, pre-integrated SDN product suites sold by vendors and aimed at making the next generation of networking simpler for enterprises to deploy. This issue also takes you behind the scenes with three networks supporting enterprise-grade deployments of the Internet of Things (IoT). Find out what technologies bring the world of connected, smart devices to life.
