EXPERT RESPONSE
It depends on what kind of Cisco certification you pursue. If CCNA, you'll be lucky to find a job at all since it's Cisco's gateway, entry-level cert and is seldom advertised for in job postings by itself. A professional cert -- CCNP, CCDP, CCIP, or CCSP -- might be enough to help you land a decent entry-level position at a mid-sized to larger company. If you get a CCIE -- doesn't matter what track -- Cisco guarantees that if you can't find a job elsewhere, they'll hire you! But that may be a bit ambitious, given your current situation.
