QUESTION POSED ON: 14 April 2004
I'm studying MPLS VPN services and their impact on the telecommunications market. Can you point me to a few big MPLS VPN providers where I can learn more?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPNs have been around for several years, but market research indicates that MPLS VPNs are now starting to eat away at the IPsec VPN market for site-to-site interconnection. According to Infonetics, 94% of the site-to-site VPN market used IPsec in 2003. However, 31% used MPLS in 2003, and this is projected to grow to 50% in 2004. Most analysts expect this "network based VPN" market to expand substantially over the next several years. A few of the many, many MPLS VPN providers include AT&T, BT, Cable & Wireless, ClearPath Networks, Equant, France Telecom, Infonet, NetSolve, NTT, SecureWorks, Telia, and Williams.
