QUESTION POSED ON: 09 June 2003
Hi Chris,
How are you? I want to know how we can send short messages instantly to other people in the same Local Area Network. I believe this would be very useful when we are very busy with the work. Thank you,
Venkat

EXPERT RESPONSE
Dear Venkat,
I'm doing great - thanks!

LAN popup messages are a neat feature to have in your Windows LAN. Older Windows versions like Windows 95 and 98 included such a tool called Winpopup.exe and was usually located in the directory that contained the Windows installation e.g. C:windows. I have not been able to find it though on Windows XP and I am not sure if it exists on Windows 2000, but don't worry since there are plenty of tools out there that will do the job.

I've located a few for you at the following URL: http://www.networkingfiles.com/Communications/communications7.htm
The page contains a variety of messaging clients and most of them are freeware!
