QUESTION POSED ON: 15 May 2003
I've connected to my office's LAN through the VPN connection. But I found that the connection was dropped frequently. When I ping to our company's VPN gateway address, no packet loss and no problem found. I didn't install any VPN client but just using the dialup-networking wizard (Microsoft's) to make the VPN connection simply. Please let me know how I can find the problem.

EXPERT RESPONSE
It is possible that there is an inactivity timeout set for VPN connections. You might try keeping a ping active (use ping -t in Windows) and see if the connection stays up. It is also possible that, if you are using IP connection sharing at your remote location, your connection is timing out. Either way, a ping may be able to keep the connection up.
