QUESTION POSED ON: 13 September 2007

What is the address prefix of a Unique Local IPv6 Unicast Address, and how is it configured by DHCP or manually on a node?

>

Hi Pete,

The Unique Local IPv6 Unicast Address has a prefix of FD00::/8. This prefix must be configured either through router advertisement (stateless autoconfiguration) or through DHCPv6 (statefull autoconfiguration). This address is specified in RFC 4193.

Cheers,
Silvia
