What is FEC in MPLS?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
MPLS uses the concept of packet labeling. As soon as the packet enters a network, it is assigned to a specific Forwarding Equivalence Class (FEC) which is done by appending a label to the packet. This eliminates the need for a router to perform header analysis since each router contains a table indicating how specific FEC type packets are to be handled.
