QUESTION POSED ON: 16 January 2007
How do I connect a laptop running Win XP Media Center Edition and a PC running Win XP Edition? When I go in the settings to add the computer to my domain the option is disabled while I am using the computer and laptop with administrative rights.

EXPERT RESPONSE
You should first review the requirements and features of Windows Media Center Edition. The frequently asked questions on Microsoft's Web site indicate that most domain types of activities, like adding a media center server to the domain, are not allowed. The functionality is not inside the operating system and is not supported. Unfortunately, reformatting and adding Windows XP Professional would be your best bet to accomplish this.
