Is it possible to replace our existing VPN authentication method with a third party method? If yes, then how?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Almost all of the VPN products on the market today support wide variety of authentication system. They can be easily integrated with your existing security policies eliminating the need to change your existing infrastructure. A good example is hooking up with your corporate directory services, enabling single point of authentication and updating. Depending on the VPN product, you can also use smart cards and two-factor authentication.

The procedure to enable the change is completely dependent on the product features and support. Let me know the details of product deployment and changeover desired.
