QUESTION POSED ON: 15 June 2005 In Active Directory, you define site-links based on point-to-point network connections and associate the cost with them for better replication topology. How will this work over MPLS network when we don't know what route a packet will take? How will we configure the site links and costs with them?
>
EXPERT RESPONSE
With MPLS roll-outs on the network, the Active Directory site links should not be affected. If anything, the MPLS environment will simplify the site links by associating a single cost for all associated links. It is easier to manage route preferences through MPLS configuration scenarios but you may still implement multiple costs via the site links in the Active Directory configuration.
