QUESTION POSED ON: 16 August 2004
What is the function of a wireless print server? Where do they reside, and are these drivers in the Wireless Print Server device or on the client who is connected to the WLAN print server?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
A wireless print server is just like any other kind of network printer -- you are simply using 802.11 instead of 802.3 to reach the server. Printer drivers and client/server software are required on both devices, but details depend on the protocol being used for remote printing. For example, Windows XP/2000 includes an Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) client that can send print jobs to any IPP server, identified by URL.
