Make sure to check the settings of the firewall in XP. Since Windows XP has more security than Windows 98, you also need to have an id on the XP machine for each Windows 9.x machine that needs to connect to. Also, look to see what protocols you have installed. I assume you have TCP/IP and NetBEUI installed on the 98 machines. Is NetBEUI installed on the XP machines? Finally, did you use the networking wizard disk that comes with XP? If my memory serves me right, you must run that disk on the 9.x machines.
