Which exams must I pass for CCVP and CCNP recertification?

If I have a CCNP and a CCVP can I achieve a recert for both by passing just one 642 exam in any area?

You are absolutely correct. Any 642-XXX exam or your CCIE will recertify your professional exams. The great thing about that is you could try another exam track if you wanted and possibly get started on a new professional Cisco track while recertifying the old ones. For instance, you can decide to take a professional exam for the CCSP track if you wanted. Be sure to thank Cisco for this easy recertification process because it is certainly convenient.
