Which application should I use to access the router when it is connected to the console machine havi

I connect my Cisco 1700 series to the console machine through the "HyperTerminal" application in Windows 2000. I don't know I connect my Cisco 1700 series to the console machine through the "HyperTerminal" application in Windows 2000. I don't know which application I should use to access the router when it is connected to the console machine having "Linux" and OS.

It doesn't matter whether you have a Windows or Linux OS. You need to have terminal emulation software and set it with the following parameters: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity bits, 1 stop bit. Now you can connect your router's console port and PC's com port and use the software. You can user PowerConnect from ericom or term from censoft.
