What is your view on router simulator programs? Are they an effective way to prepare for Cisco certifications, and can you recommend any specific simulators?
Personally, I don't think very highly about most of the router simulator programs. These programs rarely give you all the commands available on routers. Even the advanced router simulators have very limited bunch of commands. But if you are preparing for some elementary certifications like CCNA, and don't have access to a router, then you can use simulators. But for professional level certifications and above, I would never recommend simulators. You should have the real thing to work on.
