Q

What has potential to have greater bandwidth in the future?

Which has the potential to have the greater bandwidth in the long-term future, wireless or cable and why? As I...

gaze into my crystal ball I would have to guess that wireless has the greater potential for the following reasons:

  • The amount of time effort and money being spent on wireless development is astronomical

  • Industry analysts such as Frost & Sullivan believe that the new 3rd generation (3G) wireless networks are poised to enter the mainstream

  • New technologies and standards such as 802.11g are promising wireless bandwidth up to 54 Mbps

The real question is how do you define 'long term'?
