VoIP card that uses the SIP protocol
Is there a VoIP card that uses the SIP protocol that can be used to plug a standard phone line into a standalone PC? Can you give me some tips for searching the Web to find these cards? I have found the VIC cards from CISCO but I don't really want to spend $1000 for the router for a small installation. I really only need one or two ports to run some speech recognition and TTS software. The software vendor says it does not support my Analog telephony board but does support a SIP interface.

Unfortunately your best bet is to try and buy the Cisco cards off E-Bay or another auction site. Equipment/cards supporting SIP will not become cheap until they are mass-produced (or the functionality is incorporated into the OS) so although there are multiple vendors today, the costs are not cheap.
