VPN on a single-server network

I am attempting to put in a VPN on a single server NT 4.0 network. I don't have much experience with VPNs, so I am not sure what the requirements are, or what services must be turned on. Is it possible to do this without adding another server? The remote unit is Windows 2000 Pro.

You can set up a PPTP-based VPN if you have NT in the mix (client server or both). I recommend that you upgrade the server (although the $800 price tag stinks) to 2000 and use an IPSec-based VPN (especially if you are not familiar with setting up VPNs).
