Simple description of the transport layer in OSI

I need a simple way to describe the Transport Layer in the OSI model.
Becky
Hi Beckly, we hope this helps:
Layer 4: The transport layer...This layer manages the end-to-end control (for example, determining whether all packets have arrived) and error-checking. It ensures complete data transfer. More information of OSI: http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci212725,00.html
